"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." ~John Dewey

As a career teacher, I fervently belief in the transformative power of education. I view education as a cornerstone of personal and collective growth, shaping individuals’ identities as thinkers and citizens in a democratic society. I also view education as a dynamic force for progress, equipping individuals with the tools to effectively navigate a complex societal landscape shaped by diversity and innovation. Perhaps most critically, I view education as an instrument for liberation, empowering individuals to challenge systemic injustices and pave the way towards a more equitable future for themselves and others. These foundational beliefs, which have shaped my pedagogy in both K-12 and higher education contexts, are fundamentally rooted in a socio-constructivist perspective. As students embark on their educational journeys, I am deeply dedicated to nurturing their growth, fostering their intellectual development, and guiding them toward becoming informed, engaged, and compassionate members of our society.

ARTIFACTS

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the University of Florida's School of Teaching and Learning, I am the instructor of record for technology integration courses grounded in Seymour Papert's theory of constructionism, or "learning by making." I've redesigned the curriculum of these courses to provide my students with hands-on experiences with technology using strategies that span academic disciplines, address the needs of diverse learners, and promote the responsible and ethical use of technology in the classroom, work, and life.

K-12STUDENTWORK

I taught technology education and visual arts for over a decade in public high schools in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. I've taught the following courses: AP Studio Art, Art Major, Architecture, Engineering Drawing and Design, Computer Graphics, Digital Photography, Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, and Jewelry Making. I've mentored numerous Scholastic National Merit Award winners, and a student who was 1 of only 13 worldwide to earn a perfect score on the AP Studio Art Drawing exam.
