TIME4CS FOR ALL

“Time4CSForAll" is an NSF-funded research practice partnership focused on increasing participation and access to computer science (CS) education for historically marginalized students. As a member of the curriculum design team, I have developed a crosswalk and teacher PD materials that fuse culturally responsive pedagogy and Universal Design for Learning with project-based learning to guide the inclusive design, development, and application of an integrated elementary CS/science unit.

ARTS INTEGRATION IN CS EDUCATION

I conducted a literature review to explore how the visual and performing arts have been integrated in K-12 computer science education to expand knowledge of this strategy for increasing participation in CS education for underrepresented groups, such as girls and ethnic minorities.

INCLUSIVE AI LEARNING DESIGN

I developed a framework for inclusive AI learning design for K-12 students, grounded in the principles of Universal Design for Learning. The framework's application is presented in the context of a middle school AI summer camp where learners design their own chatbots.

PROJECT INFACT

I helped design and pilot scaffolded computational thinking lessons with K-12 students as part of “Include Neurodiversity in Foundational and Applied Computational Thinking (INFACT)," an EIR-funded project focused on preparing neurodiverse learners in grades 3-8 to successfully participate in CS learning in later grades.

CS ED MENTORING

UF's CTRL lab has developed and launched a K-12 CS Educator Certification Program to support Black, Latina, and Native American women in-service teachers with a community of practice model that includes a mentoring from experienced CS educators and flexible tutoring from CS content experts. We are currently studying the impacts of this program on participating mentors and mentees.
