MY RESEARCH ON EQUITY-FOCUSED TEACHER PREPARATION
CRITICAL PRACTITIONER INQUIRY
In an effort to uphold practitioner inquiry’s tradition of interrogating the current neoliberal culture of pedagogy, scholars have argued for a more equity-centered approach to its integration in teacher preparation programs. I sought to investigate the efficacy of this approach by exploring the presence of equity in practitioner inquiries conducted at the culmination of a teacher preparation program focused on equity pedagogy.
ELEMENTARY ED PROGRAM REDESIGN
I assisted the design team for the University of Florida's new four-year undergraduate program in Elementary Education in a reflexive self-study of the tensions they navigated during the redesign process. Our findings illuminate the complexities inherent in developing and enacting an equity-focused teacher education program in a predominantly-White institution.
